Obituary: TUTWILER - Frederick McElroy Cribbs, 88, of Brandon, formerly of Tutwiler, died of heart failure Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at Peachtree Village in Brandon. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Tutwiler United Methodist Church with the Rev. Leslie Nabors officiating. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lakeside Presbyterian Church on the Ross Barnett Reservoir in Rankin County. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery in Tutwiler. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time at Lakeside Presbyterian and from 3 p.m. to service time at Tutwiler United Methodist. Nowell Funeral Home of Clarksdale is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Cribbs, a retired salesman for Rose Seed Co. in Clarksdale, was born Oct. 19, 1913, in Tutwiler. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Tutwiler United Methodist Church, where he served as treasurer for 30 years before moving to Brandon in 1996. He was an avid Mississippi State University sports fan. Mr. Cribbs was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Guest Cribbs. Survivors include two daughters, Susan C. Shaw of Jackson and Sherry C. Fowler of Starkville; two sisters, Louise Rasmussen of Albuquerque, N.M., and Belle Cribbs of Destin, Fla.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Tutwiler United Methodist Church, Tutwiler, MS 38963, or Hospice Ministries, 450 Towne Center Blvd., Ridgeland, MS 39157. |
