John L. Cribbs was a musician with his company in the war. In Crissie's request for John's pension, her description of John is as follows: at age 19, he was 5'10", light complexion, light hair, brown eyes. Vol. Inf. and served in the 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 5th Army Corps, Army of the Potomac. He participated in the siege of Yorktown, the 7-days fight on the peninsula, the 2nd Battle of Bull Run, the engagements of Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg, and later in the Grant campaign.
