John enlisted during the Civil War on 27 Jun 1863, discharged on 26 August 1863. He lived in Mercer Co., PA, up to 18 Mar 1864. Then he and Katherine moved to Ogle Co., IL, living there from March 1864 to September 1873. After this they moved to Mason Co., Michigan. John was 5'9", 150 lb., hazel eyes, dark complexion.
