Notes for Edith Elenor (8) PRICE

Edith was born and lived on the Kankakee River untill the time she and her
sisters were sent to the Orphanage at SouthBend, IN. She remained there untill
she was 18, then she got a job working for a family as nanny to , two children,
she met Dad there and was courted and wed from this place. After they married
they got a job together at a place called "THE LIGHTHOUSE", this was during the
depression, the LIGHTHOUSE was a gas station and Restaurant, Dad pumped gas and
Mom cooked. I remember stories they told about their entertainment being
rollerskating up and down the pavement infront of the cafe after it closed at
night.Those rollerskates were the only wheels they owned for some time, they
didn't have a car till well after I was born. At the time I was born their mode
of transportation was foot power or a bicycle, and mother never learned to ride a
bicycle, she never did. After they left the river they went to work for a farmer,
mom was the house keeper and dad worked the farm, they acquired their first car
at this time. They were never without a car again.
