Notes for Samuel Houston JORDAN

SPECIAL: Per 3/17/2000 e-mail received from Mrs. Betty (Owen) Trimble, she personally interviewed Harrison Early Jordan, son of Samuel H. Jordan who gave William as the only brother of Samuel H. Jordan that he had any knowledge of.

Military: Private S. H. Jordan of Captain F. m. Cowen's Company (E) of the 1st Regiment Georgia State Troops, was enlisted by Capt. F. M. Cowen of the 1st Ret't Georgia State Troops, at Marietta on the Eighth day of January 1865 to serve until disbanded; he was born in Gwinnett County, in the State of Georgia, is forty five years of age, five feet ten inches high, Fair complexion, Grey eyes, Light hair, and by occupation when enlisted a Farmer. During the last two months said soldier has been unfit for duty Twenty days.

DEATH: Per Arkansas Death Certificate, Samuel Jordan was born May 16, 1819; his mother's maiden name was Dobbs; both his mother and father were born in Georgia; and he died of "old age" April 21, 1914. "Army of the State of Georgia Certificate of Disability for Discharge.

Obituary: "Uncle Sam came to Van Buren County soon after the Civil War.
