(b. 1827) were all born before 1850. The 1850 census lists James' wife as Nancy F. The 1860 census lists James' wife as Winifred. Therefore, James must have married Winifred between 1850 and 1860.

DEEDS: On 9/25/1879, James deeded Tract 188 of the 18th District, Cobb County, to William M. Jordan in consideration of "the natural love and affection he has for his son W. M. Jordan and for the maintenance and taking care of said James in his old age and paying doctor bills and burial expenses".

CHURCH: Minutes of the Concord Baptist Church, in Coxes District of Cobb County are on microfilm in the Georgia State Archives which show that James Jordan and wife joined the church February 24, 1838.

SPECIAL: Per research by Mrs. Joan H. Young, a professional genealogist, it appears that James was in Gwinnett County by 1820 and then moved into De Kalb county by 1830. From De Kalb county, he went over into Carroll county and then ended up in Cobb county where he lived until his death in 1880. There is a close relationship between James, Samuel and Charles Jordan in Gwinnett county in 1820 (they were probably brothers). By 1830, Samuel and James were in Carroll county and Charles was in Gwinnett. By 1832, James was in Carroll county and jointly owned land with Samuel.

BURIAL: Per "The First Hundred Years" by Sarah Temple; Page 706; James Jordan was born 2/25/1797, died 9/18/1880, and is buried in the Mt. Harmony Cemetery 2.7 miles from Mableton. The same information is collaborated in Volume II of Cobb County Cemeteries compiled by the Cobb County Genealogical Society where James Jordan is listed with ID#38422.

ESTATE: James died intestate and A. J. Dodgen was appointed as Administrator of the estate by the Cobb County Ordinary 11/8/1880.
