Miss Vincent and your editor are searching for the parents of the Reverend Robert H. Jordan, Baptist minister, born Virginia 1789, died Pickens County, Georgia 26 December 1866. Robert Jordan m. Susanah __________. Both are buried in Talking Rock Georgia, Town Creek Baptist Chruch Cemetery. Children were: Sallie Kenemore; Lucinda Stearns, wife of R. Garner Stearns; Mary Jemerson, wife of Wesley Jemerson; Ester Morrison, wife of Elijah Morrison; Susan Morrison, wife of John Morrison; daughter, wife of George T. Dodson; Juda Whitmire, wife of Richard Whitmire; Elizabeth, wife of Hugh Allen (Elizabeth Jordan Allen's Tombstone at Town Creek Cemetery bears the inscription, born in Buncombe County, N.D.); Nancy, wife of William Allen Ervin. In addition, there were three sons: Pleasant (died prior to 1874). Robert H. Jordan, Jr., (moved to Texas), and Charles (Little Rock, Arkansas-1850).

According to Patton in The Story of Henderson County, Archibald Jordan and his four sons Robert, Joseph, Archie, and Alex, together with a daughter, Sallie, who later married Reuben Johnson, settleded near Brevard, N.C. The Jordans moved into western N.C. shortly after the Revolutionary war.

Buncombe County Dee Book A, 1806-1814, pp. 433-434 records the 4 Dec. 1807 sale of a50 acres by Reuben Johnson to Thomas Jordan. The land, situate on the French Broad River, is bounded by lands of James Erwin and Walter Hoghead. The deed is witnessed by James McDowell and John Poteet.

On August 1894, W. P. Whitmire of Hendersonville, N.C. and great- grandson of Reverend Robert Jordan petitioned the court of Henderson county for a sale of 100 acres of land owned by Joseph P. Jordan, intestate, who died 186?

Jospeh P. Jordan left surviving him two brothers: Thomas P. Jordan and Steven D. Jordan and four sisters: Elizabeth Galloway, wife of G. W. Galloway; Sarah Duckworth, wife of William Duckworth; Eliza Henry, wife of Noah Henry, and Hulda Orr, wife of James Orr.

Eliza Henry left one daughter, Eliza, wife of Baily Reese. Elizabeth Galloway left severn children: F. F. Galloway, Joseph A. Galloway, Mary A. Galloway, Q.N. Galloway, Cora Howell, Thomas Galloway, and B. D. Gallowy.

The Children of Sarah Duckworth were Joseph E. Duckworth, W. B. Duckworth, Lucy Whitmire, Lou Duckworth, Anna L. Norwood, and Jane Justus. Jane and James Justus were the parents of James R. Justus and Emma Mendenhall, wife of Cory Mendenhall.
