After graduating from Southeren Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, he traveled over the United States representing his Fraternity. He then entered the United States State Department, He became responsible for Latin Anerican Affairs in the State Department. After leaving the State Department he became Vice President of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, remaining there for several years. He then became president of the college in Mexico City, Mexico. He also served as the Ambassador to Argentina.
