M. Gillen, et al, to Ah Luck & Co.
....2 January 1877, between Benito Lopez, Benito Noriega, and M. Gillen of San Andreas, and Ah Luck & Co. of the same place....parties of the second part.....Parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of $60. gold cointo them paid by said parties of the second part...grant the right to mine on a certain piece of ground claimed by M. Gillen and Company, known as lot 1, block 1...when the said parties of the second part get through working the ground for mining purposes, it will revert back to M. Gillen and Company...and that parties of the second part shall not throw away any large rock upon the ground and must repair the fence, if they injure same...Signed January 2, 1877.
(Benito Lopez, mentioned above was hanged after he shot and killed a man over water rights and a ditch).
