Rebecca Patterson died 1872, Feb. 4 widowed. 88 died in Franklin Township, born in Allegeheny County, PA., residence Franklin Twp. Cause of death Pneumonia.

27, April 1844; Arthur Patterson and Rebecca his wife to Joseph M. Marshall$40. lot no. 37 Twp. Franklin, Harrison County, Ohio. Arthur and Rebe signed it (x was her mark). In presence of John L. Layport and Wlm Granfell. Recorded January 15, 1845, John L. Layport, Justice of the Peace.

John Patterson to James Patterson, 13, Dec. 1827. John Patterson and Jane his wife, Washington County State of Pennsylvania, and James Patterson $500. Harrison County, Ohio; S.W. quarter, Sect 7 Twp 14, Range 6, 162 acres for which a patent was granted to James Madison, President of United States, to the said John Patterson bearing date of 16, March, 1815. R.P. 157 Vol. 11. Reference being thereunto had will more fully appear.

From the oldest Book of wills of Cadiz Ohio Courthouse, Harrison County, Ohio:
Record of the Last Will and Testament of Arthur Patterson, Deed:

In the name of the Benevolent Father of all Amen, I, Arthur Patterson of Franklin Township in the county of Harrison, State of Ohio, being of sick but sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament as follows to wit:
1st.- That my body be decently buried and that a decent Tombstone be erected over my grave to cost not exceeding fourth dollars.
2nd.- I bequeath to my beloved wife Rebecca Patterson in case she survives me, all of my livestock and farming utensils and household goods and furniture, which may remain after payment of my debts, general expenses and costs of Administering my Estate; I also five and bequeath to my said wife all money which I may die possessed of (Pofsefsed) and also all debts due or to become due to me also all the personal estate and Property which I may own at my decease. And it is my intention that she shall have all of the above named and designated property absolutely with the power to dispose of the dame during her lifetime or at her death as she may please. I also give and devise to my said wife Rebecca Patterson for and during her natural life, all of my real estate of which I may die seazed or possessed she to pay all taxes on the same during her life. The above bequests to my said wife to be in lieu of her Dower.
3rd.- I give and devise to my son Samuel Patterson the South East quarter of section ten in Township Thirteen of Range seven in the Steubenville Land District, subject to the life estate to my said wife therein; and I require said son; Samuel within two years from and after the death of my said wife to pay my daughter Catherine Rutlodge, widow of Moses Rutlodge, of the state of Indiana Deceased, the sum of one hundred and sixty-six dollars and 66 2/3 cents; and that he also pay within the same time a like sum of money to my son Arthur Patterson of said State of Indiana; and that within the same time he will Samuel pay a like sum to my daughter Mary Ann Gilmore, wife of Frances Gilmore, making in all to be paid by Samuel, the sum of five hundred dollars.
4th.- I devise to my sons Obadiah Patterson and William Patterson in equal proportions, the south west quarter of Section Four in Twp. thirteen of range seven in the Steubenville land district, subject to a life estate of my said wife therein; and I require my said sons, Obadiah and William to pay my said daughter Catherine Rutlodge within two years from and after the death of my wife the sum of five hundred and thirty-three dollars and 33 1/3 cents and that within the same time the said Obadiah and William pay a like sum of money to my son Arthur Patterson; and that within the same time they also pay to my daughter Mary Ann Gilmore a like sum of $233.33 1/3 cents, making in all the sum of $700. 00 to be paid by said Obadiah and William; and I make the same charge upon the land devised as aforesaid to my said sons Obadiah and William.
5th.- I give and bequeath to my daughter Catherine Rutlodge and also to my daughter Mary Ann Gilmore and also to my son Arthur Patterson each the sum of four hundred dollars to be paid to them by the persons and in the time and manner mentioned and provided for in the third and fourth items of this will.
6th.- I have heretofore and in my lifetime given to my son David Patterson such portion of my estate as he is entitled to and I therefore leave him nothing in this my will.
7th.- I hereby constitute and appoint my wife Rebecca and my son William Patterson to be executors of this my last will and testament. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 30th day of August A.D. 1858, declaring this to be my only last will and testament and revoking any and all former wills by me made.
