Notes for Jose Ygnacio PRECIADO

This family information was typed by Ramon Felipe Preciado, Hesperia, California on January 1980.

The team from Bill Coates, Madera Method found these:

1849---Damien, Manuel, Ygnacio and Feliciano Preciado brothers leave Hermosillo and travel to San Francisco, later probably passing through Stockton, going to the mines of Calaveras County.
The Noreiga's also arive, going first to Los Angeles and then to Calavaras.
In Calavaras, most likely in in 1850's:
Damien dies in the mines.
Feliciano marries Maria.
Ygnacio doesn't find a lot of money to be made in mining, so he starts a tent hotel and other business'.
The Noreiga's have three daughters: Adelaide, Annie (Who later marries Victor Shinn) and Charlotte (Who later marries Judge C.V. Gottschalk).

1853---Ygnacio's sister, Carmelita, arrives by boat in San Francisco with Maria Padilla (Manuel Preciado's wife). Soon after, still in 1853, Carmelita marries a Frenchman, Hypolite Galeron, in clval ceremony, which probably upsets the Catholic and religious Preciado family.

1860's---The Preciado family lives in Calavaras County, doing business there, fighting discrimination against foreign miners, and getting to know the Noreiga family.

1866---San Andreas--Ygnacio and Adelaide (still a very young teenager) are married.

1867---May 7--San Andreas--son Albert is born, and Ygnacio records the event on a Cinco de Mayo dance poster.

Late in 1867-68---The Preciado's move to Lone Pine to seek new mining and business opportunities. The families that go are: Ygnacio and Adelaide (and Albert), Manuel and Maria Preciado (and children),
Hypolite and Carmelita Galeron (and children).

1869---Lone Pine--Rudolph is born on January 6. Ygnacio records the event on the same dance poster.

1870---Lone Pine--Ygnacio Jr. (Y.V.) is born, and Ygnacio records the event on the dance poster.

1872---Lone Pine--Earthquake

1873---January 21--Lone Pine--Alex is born and Ygnacio records the event on the dance poster, also making a second (and more neatly written) copy on another dance poster. Only the births of the first four sons are recorded this way.

1875---Lucy is born in Lone Pine.

May 11, 1877---Carmelita is born in Lone Pine.

Late in 1877, or early 78---The family returns to San Andreas.

October 24, 1878---Charles is born in San Andreas.

Probably 1879---The family heads south and ends up in Borden.
