Notes for Nicholas GENTRY

Nicholas left Lunenburg County between 1767, when he sells to Thomas Muary (Richard and Allen Gentry are witnesses) and 1770 when he is on the tax list of Surry County, North Carolina for the rest of his life. He lived on Fishing Creek.

From 1770 until his death about 1899, Nicholas appears continuously in the Surry Couynty tax records. He first settled near Joseph on Fishing Creek, but in 1788 he moved to Deep Creek near his brother, Richard. While the precise make-up of Nicholas' family is unknown, it is probable that a number of his children were daughters.
