Notes for Hezekiah GENTRY

He was in the War of 1776 from South Carolina.

1786 Hezekiah Gentry sells land between the Tygar and Broad Rifvers to James Hogan. Deed of Union County, SC Book B, page 14 Hezekiah Gentry to James Hogan. This Indenture made this eighth day of August 1786, in the 10th year of independency. Between Hezekiah Gentry and Catarine his wife of the State of SC and County of Edgefield of the one part and James Hogin of Said Stae and County of Union of other Part.

He was on the 1778 and 1779 jury list in the Spartan Division of the 96th District, SC. (Jury lists of SC 1778-1779 by Hendrix and Lindsay, pages 80 and 101). He migrated to Lunenburg Co, VA, in 1747. He migrated to Johnston Co, NC, in 1759. He migrated to Spartanburg Dist, SC, in 1778

For death information see Will and estate papers; Box11, pkg 387. Marriage/Residence records see Union Co., SC, Deed Book B page 14. 1787 in Edgefield.

There is some question about the facts concerning this family. If wife Catherine was born 6 July 1778, she could not have had the children indicated on the birth dates. The large gaps in birth dates of children indicates that perhaps Hezekiah was married more than one time. Some of the research was completed by Ge Lee Corley Hendrix, Greenville, SC, about ? 1993.
