Notes for James HAGGARD

. James Haggard, born 1759; married Betsy Gentry.

More About James Haggard:
Occupation: Baptist minister

The following is a quote from "Haywood's History of Tennessee", page249, concerning the incidents at Brown's Station: "...........theindians who committed this massacre were Creeks. In the same year, in
the spring season, at Brown's Station, on the west fork of Mill Creek, amile below Mayfield Station, the Indidians attacked and killed fourboys, two of them sons of Stowball, one a son of John Brown, and one theson of Joseph Denton. The people who were living at that station immediately withdrew to Rains's Station. In the same year, after the boys were killed, James Haggard and his wife were killed at Brown's
Station, and at the same time and place a man of the name of Adams. A few days after this John Haggard was killed, and then it was that the station was broken up and removed to Rains's..........."

I believe that this is the same James and John Haggard.
