Of the ten children of Nathaniel Haggard and Elizabeth; Henry, Martin and James were Baptist preachers and their sisters, Elizabeth and Mary married Baptist preachers. Bartlet and David were twins, they were farmers as were John and Nathaniel 2nd; and Jane, the other sister married David Gentry II (her cousin).

It is worthy to note that the History of Albermarle County, Virginia by Edgar Wood, shows the names of Nathaniel Haggard I and his son Martin were signers of the Virginia Declaration of Independences.

There were many marriages between the Gentry and Haggard Families over the next 100 years.
