Notes for Reverend Henry Oliver HAGGARD

Henry was a member of Oakmulgee Baptist Church, Perry Alabama.
They had nine children all born in Shelby and Perry Counties, Alabama:
John Flavel Haggard--1851
Emma Fedora Haggard--1853
Henry Francis "Bud" Haggard--1854
James Worthy Haggard--1856
Son Haggard--1858
Carrie Haggard--1860
Andrew Carson Haggard--1862
Walter Watts Haggard--1865
John Henry Oliver Haggard--1867

The following was from the "History of Texas" Fort Worth and the Texas Northwest" edited by Capt. B.B. Paddock, 1922:

A brief summary of WALTER WATTS HAGGARD of Fort Worth. His father was a native of Ireland; on Coming to America located in Virginia; a brother was killed by Cherokee Indians in Western Virginia. The chieftain's daughter begged for the Grandfather's life. The two were married and lived among the Indians for a number of years, later moved to Tennessee and Kentucky. The Grandfather was a farmer and Baptist minister and of his five sons four became ministers of the same church. The son HENRY OLIVER HAGGARD, Father of Walter Watt Haggard was born in Kentucky and grew up on a farm near McMinnville, McMinn, Tennessee.

NOTE:
The above biography has a numerous errors but appears to be a mixture of Nathaniel Haggard and his Son Reverand Henry Haggard. The Indian Princess appears to have been Pocahontas who rescued Capt. John Smith, but she didn't marry him. The "Father from Ireland" appears to be Richard Randolph who fled to Dublin, Ireland, to escape religious persecution in England. The "brother killed by Indians" would be the Reverand Martin Haggard, brother to Reverand Henry Haggard. Pocahontas appears to have been the ancestor of both DOROTHY (DOLLY) RANDOLPH and her brother JAMES RANDOLPH, but verification is needed.
