Mr. Rubottom brought his family to Tennessee in 1803, and he was married the second time in 1810 to the mother of Dr. S. N. He was a gunsmith and blacksmith by trade and worked some for the Indians. He died in 1857. He was once or twice a member of the Legislature, when it convened at St. Charles. He was also for several years county judge and justice of the peace, etc. He was a life-long Democrat, and a man of considerable influence. He was married in 1859 to Miss Eliza, daughter of John and Elsie Wisecarver, and a native of Cape Girardeau County. Her people were early settlers of Butler County. To this union were born seven children. In 1866 the Doctor
