Notes for J. W. "Dub" BRUINGTON
Mr. Bruington's obituary: "IDALOU - J.W. "Dub" Bruington, 73, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church of Petersburg with the Rev. Tom Griffin and the Rev. Jim Hancock officiating. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery by White Funeral Home. Mr. Bruington was born March 3, 1929, in Petersburg to the late Earl McLaughin Bruington and Younie Mae Milam Bruington. He graduated high school in Petersburg and attended Barber College in Lubbock. He was a lifelong resident of Petersburg. He married Joyce Cribbs on Aug. 7, 1950, in Clovis, N.M. He was a barber for 20 years at City Barber Shop. He was a salesman for American National Insurance, worked for Custom Farm Services and Terra Chemical. He was a volunteer for the Petersburg Fire Department. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 712 in Floydada. He was in the Naval Reserve from 1949 to 1952. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Petersburg. Survivors include three sons, Landria Wynn Bruington of Farmington, N.M., Bart McLaughin Bruington of Bloomfield, N.M., and Chad Robert Bruington of Canyon; a daughter, Sandra Lynn Spencer of Plainview; a brother, Billie Earl Bruington of Petersburg; two sisters, Emaline Spain of Plainview and Geneva Kersh of Plainview; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the church. The family suggests memorials be to Vista Care Family Hospice, 4418 Olton Road, Plainview, TX 79072." (Amarillo Globe-News, Jan. 20, 2003)
